Characterization

Francis Ford Coppola uses characterization quite frequently in his movie, "The Godfather". Characterization, when that director gives a situation where the character is described both physically and mentally. Here are some examples that I have found...

Tom Hagen.
He is a Lawyer that only has one client.
He is very polite, he acts like he is untouchable.
He walks around being very confident, he knows he is going to get what he wants.

Jack Woltz.
A big time producer.
Walks around as if he owns the world, he is truly cocky.
Annoying, a bot of a show off.
He is rich, and likes to show that to the world.

Michael Corleone.
Michael abandoned his family.
He is currently dating Kay Adams.
Seems like he is the only Corleone that is living his life to the fullest, by not being a part of his family. Though deep down we all know that he does truly care for his family. Maybe he is just does not want to be part of the mafia, so he is just trying to stay away.

Vito Corleone, The Godfather.
A very mysterious character, has a lot of power.
Has a big family.
Everyone is afraid of the Godfather, they do as he says.
I noticed The Godfather only helps his friends, if you need his protector, or help from him you have ask him if you will be his friend.
The Corleone’s can do what ever they want because of "The Godfather"

Santino (Sonny) Corleone.
He is the oldest son.
He is a hot head, that ironic because when Michael calls Sonny from the hospital and he says no ones here, no guards, no one Sonny responds by saying do not panic. That is so ironic because Sonny is usually the first person angry or panic.
Since his father is in the hospital, and he is the oldest he feels that he is in charge, he is calling the shots.
He has the most power out of the sons, he gets the most respect of how it seems.
He believes that he will be next in line.

Class Act

In class on Wednesday the 23 of November Galen said "bad things happen in doors and good things happen out doors". After I thought about it a little I realized that it was true. Except there was one part in the movie that could change this argument though you could debate that it is true. This example occurred during the wedding when Santino and some other men walked out of the wedding and saw this man who was taking picture of peoples license plate numbers. I think they thought it was kind of suspicious so Santino grabbed the mans camera, threw it on the ground. He then yelled at him said something along the lines of get out of here this is a private venue then threw some money on the ground and walked away. I thought it was very gentlemen like for him to throw the money on the ground he did break the camera, so it is only right for him to give him the money back. Though knowing he is part of a mafia, he is a criminal so I guess I just thought t was unexpected. Now people could argue that it was a good thing becasue he ruined all the pictures that the man had so it was a good thing that happened for the family, in a way that, that man would never be able to track the Corleaone's. Now another example for good things that happen indoors would have to be the Wedding. Now there are a few bad things that have occurred indoors for example when Mr. Woltz discovered his favourite horses head in bed with him. A second example would be when the Tattaglia family killed Luca Brasi.
